Blair.

I was lucky enough to meet David Blair in Detroit last month at the Allied Media Conference. I am really saddened by his passing, and wish for him smooth travel wherever he is going next. I learned about an hour ago of his death, and wrote this for him.

—–

I just met you. Not one month ago you pounded my heart against my ribs as tears sprung to my eyes and my mouth hung open. Your voice. Thank god for your voice that ignited the embers in elder, and young.

My blood was racing and my hands twiching. My fingers grasping for ink to mark the words your voice set free in me. Your Detroit love shone out of you like dawn and the city glowed anew to my eyes.

Now more than ever I will remember the shiver the joy and the sadness climbing along my spine. Reminding me that words DO change the world.

Blair, thank you for coming into mine, ever briefly. Rest In Power.
